DON’T BE A FOOL

This world is incredible and is full of mysteries. The sun; a massive heat pump that sits just far enough from the earth to make our climate such that life can be sustained on it, containing thousands of gallons of water that is cycled daily. Evaporated from the oceans condensed into cloud formations, formulated into rain storms that shower down onto the land of the earth were the plants of the earth drink, the animals of the earth drink, and the men of the earth drink, 60% of our bodies are water, we couldn’t live without it, the water is returned to the sea by streams. It is a massive system that works to absolute precision. All compounds exist in three forms; as a solid, a liquid and as a gas. Water is such that it exist as a solid, liquid, and as a gas within a very tight spectrum of temperatures; go beyond that tight spectrum of temperatures it exist as either a gas or solid, life has to have liquid water to exist, so the temperatures of the earth must be maintained within a very narrow spectrum in order for liquid water to be available at all times. I said earlier that all compounds have three states; solid, liquid, and gas. All compounds except one are their densest as a solid meaning the molecules are closest together when a solid, spread apart to become a liquid, and spread apart even further to become a gas. One compound is different and that is water. Water actually becomes lighter when it is transformed into a solid, the water molecules spread apart, and that is why ice floats on water. If water acted like all other compounds on earth when it froze and became a solid it would sink, it is very good for us that water doesn’t sink. If water did sink when frozen we would have a problem, in time all the water of the earth would freeze and be contained at the poles. Water at the poles freezes at the surface but maintains its liquid state under the ice, if it sank once solid the ice would sink to the bottom of the ocean allowing the surface water to freeze and sink until finally it was all just a solid block of ice.

Why is this? Why is it that this one substance that we need to sustain life is so different than all others? Need I say that it is by design! When I see this it has all the markings of intelligent design, there is no other reason for it. This is by intelligent design! There is no reason for water to act differently than all other compounds but it does. The one substance that we need to sustain life is designed in such a way to insure that there is always some of it available on earth in its liquid state. That the earth is set just far enough from the sun to give us a temperate climate that keeps water available in a liquid state at all times. That the earth is placed just far enough from the sun to cause water to transform into a gas rise into the atmosphere condense then fall back down to the earth providing life giving water available to all creatures. What a beautiful system so designed. To look at this and say there is no God one would have to be a fool! “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise they became fools”. “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God’". Creation it self is evidence enough of the Creator, and if there is a Creator you better know who He is and how to be reconciled to Him.

“He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as receive Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”. Let me introduce you to my God, my King, my Savior, Jesus Christ! Trust in Him alone for salvation. That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved”. "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ".

That Thing Called Love

There is something that is on my heart and what that something is, that thing called love. “Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails”. True love, what is true love? True love is when you do something for someone else knowing full well that it won’t benefit you in the slightest and may even hurt you. From where does such love come from, dare I say from God! The bible says “God is Love”. Jesus said: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends”. I write this even now because I want to share with you the immensely, unimaginable love God has given me. Though I did not deserve it He laid down His life for me, when I think of that it confounds me. I write a lot about the law of God and there is a reason for that, the law of God was given to show us our need for the grace of God that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is purely a gift from God, we didn’t do anything to earn it nor can we, it is by the grace of God we are saved.

I have a son named Daniel who I dearly love. He is not my biological son he is my adopted son that God gave me to raise from the age of one, I am the only earthly father that Daniel has ever none. He was the baby I cared for, whose diaper I changed, who I went to work for to earn money to feed and clothe, who I worried about when he was sick, read books to as he sat in my lap, spent entire evenings and weekends at the soccer fields watching him play, when he began to drive I prayed for him often and hoped for his safe return. I loved my son Daniel from the time I first met him until now and still. He began growing apart from his mother and me when he was in his teens. Didn’t spend time with us stayed away as much as he could, he graduated high school then went to college at the University of North Texas at first he never called but if we called he would answer for a while then shortly after he would no longer even answer, all communication had stopped. We found out through the University that he was failing every one of his classes and was not attending any of them. My wife and I showed up at the dorm packed up all of his things and took him home with much anguish. Shortly after this we went to work one day and came home and he was gone, no goodbye nothing just gone. I found him at a coffee shop a month later he had been staying with a friend. Now fast forward two years later Daniel remains separated from our family, we have occasional contact with him but it is very infrequent most times we don’t hear from him unless he wants’ something which is seldom.

I bring up this relationship with the son whom I love to bring up to you a very important point, to express to you the best way I know how. How much God loves you. Daniel is my only son and as strained as our relationship is I love him dearly, I would wrap my arms around him in a loving embrace in a minute. I would help him out in any way that I could. Now my love for Daniel is an imperfect love, the love of a human father for a human son and as imperfect as my love for Daniel is I could never give him up for anyone, I love him too much for that. But God did! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have ever lasting life”. That is love beyond measure, that God loved me and you so incredibly much that He would give His only Begotten son for us, it is the kind of love that confounds me, unimaginable love. You and I before coming to Christ are under the law and are cursed, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse”. But God having loved us gave His only begotten son, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us”. God loves you with a love that cannot be measured by human standards. He offers you the free gift of eternal life to all who believe, to all whose faith is in His only begotten son Jesus Christ. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”, Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, confess Him as lord and you will be saved!

If You Love Me

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the spirit” (Romans 8:1).

When I read this verse the Lord has revealed to me four things, one of which is that all are condemned. If you are now not condemned if you are in Christ, then therefore you where condemned before you where in Christ. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23a). We are sinful beings living in a fallen world. Look at all that is going on in this world today and you will know that we live in a fallen world, all you have to do is turn on a news channel just briefly and you will hear terrible things befalling this world and man. Earth quakes, tsunamis, unemployment, you can’t turn on a news channel without seeing someone argue with someone else, it seems everyone is out for themselves. Satan when he fell from heaven said five times “I will” (Isaiah 14:12-15), isn’t that exactly what we do, we are more concerned for what we want rather than what God wants.

The second thing is that if you are not in Christ you remain condemned. Imagine if you will your entire life played out on a movie screen; every thought you have ever had played for all to hear, every word you have ever said, and every action you have ever done wether done publicly or behind closed doors seemingly private at the time, played out on a large screen for all to see. That is the life that God sees, he knows every thought you have ever had, every word you have ever said, and everything you have ever done wether done publically or privately. Jesus said “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment” (Matthew 12:36). The Bible says: “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God” (Romans 14:2). Works do nothing to undo the bad you have already done. No amount of good thoughts going forward can undo the bad, no amount of good words going forward can undo the bad, and no amount of good deeds going forward can undo the bad. “And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).

The third is that those who are in Christ are not condemned. Jesus the only begotten Son of God was sacrificed by God on the cross for the sins of all who believe and put their trust in Him. Jesus lived a sinless perfect life never breaking one of God’s laws even once and His blood was shed for the forgiveness of Sins of all who belong to Him. “Without shedding of blood there is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22). The punishment for all sin is death and not just the death of the body but death of the soul in Hell, “Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:14-15). Jesus said: “I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Are you in the Life? Are you in Christ Jesus? Has His blood been sacrificed for your sins?

This brings me to the fourth thing that God has revealed to me in this scripture. There is something that distinguishes those who are in Christ from those who are not in Christ, “who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the spirit” (Romans 8:1). That distinguishing fact is this, those who are in Christ do not walk in the flesh, they have repented of their sins and turned to God who is Spirit. The Bible says that those who walk according to the flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). This is what the Bible says about those who walk in the Spirit: “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering (patients), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law” (Galatians 5:22-23).

How may you be in Christ? The Bible says: “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). This is called repentance and faith. Repent from your sins and turn to God believing that Jesus Christ has paid the price for your sins. Faith without obedience is not a saving faith, faith that is obedient saves. “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble” (James 2:19). The demons believe that Jesus is the Christ, the savior who takes away the sins of the world but yet they tremble because they are not saved; they believe but do not except Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says to confess Jesus as Lord. That is how to be saved! Surrender your life to Jesus Christ as Lord! That’s it, surrender to Jesus Christ as Lord. Give up! You can’t be good He is good, you can’t earn your way to Heaven, He has done it for you. In every way give up and give in, surrender your life to Jesus Christ and do whatever He says, if He is your Lord you are His slave and you will obey Him. Jesus said: “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).

Go Home To Your Friends

“Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you” (Mark 5:19). For this purpose I right this blog!

In the Gospel of Mark there is an account of Jesus and His apostles crossing the sea to the country of the Gadarenes which is the opposite side of the sea from Galilee. There was a man there that had an unclean spirit that caused him to do all kinds of evil; Jesus cleansed him of that evil spirit saving the man. This man was so grateful and so in love with his Lord (Jesus) that he wanted to go with Him and be with Him but the Lord told him no; “go home and tell people what I did for you”. “However, Jesus did not permit him, ‘Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you” (Mark 5:19). Then the man went throughout that region (Decapolis modern day Jordan) telling everyone what Jesus had done for him, how he had compassion on him, how he had removed the evil spirits that where controlling him, how he was freed from slavery to sin and satin. “And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled” (Mark 5:20).

I to was freed from the evil spirits of this world that controlled me, I to was in bondage held as a slave to sin and satin, led by my sinful nature unable to break the bondage of slavery to sin. The Lord came to me on May 4th 2003 and purchased me off the slavery block if sin and freed me from the bondage of slavery to sin. I too just like this man desired to go immediately to be with my Lord but He said “not yet, I will return for you, go home and tell everyone what I have done for you”. He said, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Gospel means good news and the good news is this: Jesus Christ being the only begotten son of God came into this world and lived a sinless, perfect life. He was crucified (killed on a cross) died in our place receiving the punishment that you and I deserve for our sins (breaking God’s laws). And God by His grace offers forgiveness of sins for all who believe, all who put their faith in Jesus Christ. I am saved by the Grace of God alone, through Faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone! God has saved me by His Grace in having compassion on me; He is the one who gave me the Faith in Jesus Christ that saved me. I am His purchased possession; I am now a slave to righteousness, a slave of Jesus Christ and have received His seal, His seal of ownership His Holy Spirit. “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed , you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory” (Ephesians 1: 13:14). Jesus has had compassion on me, He has saved me, and He will save you too! Call out to Him and put your faith in Jesus Christ and He will save you and cleanse you of all evil. “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).

Not Condemened

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). I will usually ask God on Sunday morning to give me a verse or a couple of verses out of His word to memorize and meditate on all week, this week He gave me John 3:18. The most well know verse in the bible occurs just two verses prior; “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). This is the gospel (the good news) the verse that ties these two together says; “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:17). God loves each and every one of us; the cross is evidence of His love for us. Every single man, women, and child walking the face of this earth is God’s creation, He created everything. The simple fact that there is a creation is evidence enough of a creator; nothing didn’t create everything, there is intelligence in the design of this world and all that it contains. God gave us free will when He created us; all that we have comes from God. We were created with one purpose, to worship God that is the reason for our existence.

The Bible says “for all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God “Romans 3:23). What is sin? “Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God” (1 John 3:4 NLT). God gave us His Holy Ten Commandments His moral law; sin simply put is breaking those laws, in other words rejecting the law giver, rejecting God. The first to reject God was Adam and Eve in the garden. God told man/Adam not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but he used the free will God gave him to do it any way and reject God. Every one of us has rejected God, every one of us! The bible says “For the wages of sin is death” (Romans 3:23a). The death of your soul in Hell, Jesus described it this way “where the worm does not die And the fire is not quenched. Outer darkness, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Mark 9:46, Matthew 8:12). “And anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). Hell is a horrible place, total separation from God, no goodness, pain, total unfulfilling forever without end.

I have heard people ask; if God is so loving why would He throw people into Hell? God does not put people in Hell, people chose to go to Hell. When you sin you reject God. Hell is separation from God, forever! God loves us so very much, Peter in his second epistle said; “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). God wants everyone to turn to Him, to turn to His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. God does not reject man, man rejects God every time you sin you reject God. God has made a Way for everyone to be reconciled to Him and that Way is Jesus Christ. If you will Repent (turn from sin to God) and put your faith in His only begotten son Jesus Christ you will be saved. Remember, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17).
