Men You Were Made to Lead

Men, you were made to lead, not to follow but to lead. Women need you!

What is the original sin of man? Man listened to woman. I've heard people make a joke of this but it is no laughing matter, I'm serious. The word of God said not to eat, woman gave to him and he ate.

"For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man;" ~1 Corinthians 11:7-8

God made man in his own image, but did he listen to God? Know, he listened to woman who originated from man. In essence man listened to himself or an image of himself.

There is another aspect of this as well. Woman listened to the serpent Satan. Why? Because man was not doing his job; leading her in accordance with the word of God. God told man not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; man was not being a Stewart of God's word.

This is not about women, but about men. Men you were made to follow God and lead woman, not to follow but to lead. To lead in accordance with the word of God.

What is the result of man not following God and being a Stewart of God's word? Sin! God intrusted man with His word.
"The Lord commanded the man, saying, 'From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die." ~Genesis 2:16-17
God gave His word to man then fashioned women out of the rib He had taken from man. It was then and is now man's responsibility to be a Stewart of God's word.

Men, women are on there own in many situations throughout our land and it was not meant to be this way. People say that abortion is a women's issue, no its not, its a man's issue, if men did what they were intrusted to do abortion would not exist. Many abortion ministries across our land are lead and done solely by women and they have done a good job but that is not what they were designed for. Men it is high time you took up this fight and put an end to this genocide, being a Stewart of God's word.

A Christian Nation

I saw a post on facebook recently that kind of bothered me. It was a discussion question and I don’t get involved in debates on the computer because you don’t have the non-verbal communication on a computer that you have in an open conversation, so things said can be taken the wrong way (I had in the past and repented). I commented once and left it at that, allowing others to take part in the discussion. What mainly bothered me was not the question itself but some of the responses. The question was: “How many people would be interested in moving if a new Christian nation was to be established somewhere with the precepts of the Bible as the core founding document?”

The bible; the only authority of God on earth teaches; grace by faith in Jesus Christ alone, that salvation is not of ourselves but is solely a gift from God. It's not, Jesus plus something nor is it something, then Jesus, nor is it a choice we make. The bible is clear that we are dead in our transgressions and sins; but God made us alive together with Christ. I am writing about how God saves a man according to scripture so that we as believers in Jesus Christ will have love and compassion towards our fellow men that remain dead in their sins. I have two passages of scripture that I often meditate on.

1. Romans chapter 3 which I use in presenting the gospel to unbelievers.
2. Ephesians 2:1-10 to remind myself who God is, what I was, what He did, and what I am now to be about.

“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:1-10 NASB)

Salvation is solely the act of God's will where he takes a man dead in his sin, through the gospel call breathes life into him by the Holy Spirit creating a new creature changing his heart and mind causing him to believe by faith in the son of God Jesus Christ; justifying him by faith. “By grace you have been saved.”

The bible describes us as having been dead in our transgressions and sins prior to God making us alive with Christ and it says that God made us alive; not a choice, God made us alive. If you told a dead man to get up and walk could he do it? You know the answer is no, he could not get up and walk because he is dead. What about free will, the idea of free will is an unbiblical idea, I have the nature of a man so I can only will to do what is in my nature to do. Have you ever seen a bird fly? When I was a child I was a dreamer, I would go to a park by myself on a warm summer morning and swing on the swing set or just lie on the side of a hill and watch the birds fly. As I watched, I strongly desired to be a bird and fly, but no matter how much I wanted to fly I could not, because I was not a bird I was a boy.

I can remember being dead in my sins before God gave me life. I just went through life and did what felt good to me and made me happy, I had my pet sins and didn’t commit some of the sins other people committed so I was convinced I must be better than them; I didn’t steal or take drugs (the sins our culture at the time considered to be wrong) I had however many sins that I kept secret from the world and did not allow anyone to know that I committed them, but did often; I rarely unless I went to church even gave a thought about God. Then I went through a period in which God through His word made me aware that I was sinful. I saw what was good and wanted to be good, I knew what was bad and wanted to stop doing what was bad. I would commit my sins, pray and ask God to forgive me knowing full well that I would do it all over again the next day. No matter how badly I wanted to do good and not do bad I could not stop doing bad, I could not turn from sin to Jesus Christ no matter how much I wanted to. Looking back now I know that what I truly desired was my sin and not Christ, my nature was one dead in my sins so I could not choose to be alive in Christ.

Then one day I knew I belonged to Jesus He had paid for my sins in full, I was His and He was mine. I know longer had to sin, I could choose not to. The same sins that I could not stop doing before were now detestable to me and the Christ I once ignored I desired Him above all things. The sins in my life over time became less and less I could now turn away from sin when before I could not. Don’t get me wrong, I am by no means sinless; if anything I’m now hypersensitive to my own sin because the Lord has caused me to hate it and desire Him. I sin every day the difference is my will, I fall into sin every day, I catch myself thinking something I should not think, saying something I should not say, or doing something I should not do or not doing something that I should be doing and when I do that I turn from that to Christ by faith and now have the ability to do so because my nature has been changed by God.

So why am I writing this? I am not writing to tell you about my conversion, I am writing to show you that a man dead in his sins cannot choose anything else he is lost. His nature is sinful so he must do what is in his nature to do. Sin! There is much talk among my brethren about God’s law in evangelism and it is indeed useful. God's perfect Holy Law does not show me simply that I have sinned; it does that, but more than that, it shows me that I am a sinner. We humans are not simply people who have sinned; but by are very nature we are sinners. Any sin that you or I have not committed it is because God did not allow it, our nature is sinful therefore our propensity is toward sin. When we get angry with unbelievers for their sin it shows that we think we are better than they because we may not sin in the same way. Should we be angry with a sinner for their sin because God restrains us but not them? Yes, every man is responsible for his own sin and deserves Hell; do not forget that you deserve Hell and God by His grace made you alive together with Christ. So our reaction when we see men in reprobate sin should be one of thanksgiving and glorying in God that we are not the same, that He has given us a gift, because without the grace of God we might be the same. God’s common grace keeps all of humanity from destroying itself. Can you imagine a world without a sovereign God, heaven forbid? The Law of God was given by our Lord to bring the knowledge of sin, showing us that we are by nature sinful. Yes what is going on in America and in the world is very frustrating and can be bothersome, I know. Pain and sorrow are difficulties but the pain and suffering of this world are temporary. Don’t forget our Lord left heaven and walked as a man through the sloth of this sinful world, and the word of God in Isaiah 53:3 says that He was a man of sorrows. Cast off the frustration brethren, cast off the bothering and preach the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to His glory, calling His sheep out of this sinful reprobate world, but you must be in the world to do it.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~Romans 12:2

The Great Dilemma of Scripture

This morning I read from Exodus and I came upon a passage that has left me Awe struck and amazed. Moses had just come down from the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant and Aaron and the people had made a calf of gold and were worshiping it; Moses then threw down the two tablets at the base of the mountain breaking them and unleashed righteous indignation against the people for their sinning against YHWH.

Moses then spoke with God and what God said should leave everyone in Awe of God and filled with great fear for Him. “Then Moses returned to the Lord, and said, "Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves. But now, if You will, forgive their sin—and if not, please blot me out from Your book which You have written!" The Lord said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book. But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold, My angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin." (Exodus 32:31-34 NASB)

Do you see what he said? God said that “Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My Book.” And “nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin.” Do not think because God has not struck you down immediately for your sin that your sin will go unpunished. He has promised that there is a day of punishment coming for whoever has sinned against Him. Now wait just a minute, doesn’t that include you and I? I have sinned against God, I have broke His laws; in fact the bible tells us that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23 NASB). People tell me all the time God will forgive them for their sin, yet here God says that he will blot out of His book whoever has sinned against Him and has promised a coming day of punishment for their sin.

Shall we continue? I then read in chapter 33; “Then Moses said, "I pray You, show me Your glory!" And He said, " I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion." (Exodus 33:18-19). “Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations." Moses made haste to bow low toward the earth and worship.” (Exodus 34:6-7).

Now wait a minute! God had already said that He would blot out of His book and punish whoever sinned against Him. Then He says that He “will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” So this begs the question; If God is true to His word and the bible declares that He is. How can God show grace and compassion on whomever He chooses when he already said that He would blot out of His book and punish whoever sinned against Him? Then we have the next passage that says this about God; “who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.” It says plain as day here that He forgives sin yet sin will not go unpunished. How can this be, how can He do both? How can He forgive the man who sinned against Him and also punish the guilty?

Thus my friend is the great dilemma of scripture. God promises that whoever sins against Him, He will blot out his name from His book and on the day of punishment, He will punish them for their sins. Then at the same time says He will be gracious to whomever He chooses and have compassion on whomever He chooses. Then says that He will forgive iniquity, transgressions, and sins; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. How can this be?

The only answer my friend is the cross of Jesus Christ, let us take a look at Romans chapter 3. “But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:21-26 NASB)

This is why I consider this passage to be the greatest in all of scripture; because it declares God to be righteous while being gracious on whom He will be gracious and righteous in His showing compassion on whom He will show compassion. God is righteous in showing loving grace and compassion on whomever He chooses because they were redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ through faith. God is good in punishing men for their sins and God is good in having grace and compassion on whomever He chooses. God can by His loving grace and compassion forgive the sins of men; and yet the guilty will not go unpunished because Christ took their punishment as a man in their place. God punished Christ for our sins and we receive His righteousness through faith in Him. And now all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ are the redeemed of God, Justified before God through Christ taking our punishment for our sins, WOW!!! Who is the man whom God has been gracious to and had compassion on? The man on whom He has granted repentance and faith in Jesus Christ; call out to God, confess your sins to Him and beg Him to have compassion and be gracious towards you even though you have sinned against Him and deserving to have your name blotted out of His book and to be punished. I believe the word of God to be true in saying; “Whoever will call on the name of the LORD will be saved.” (Romans 10:13 NASB) Repent and believe in Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior and on the day of punishment you will escape the wrath of God against sin in Jesus.

What do You Desire

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." ~Deuteronomy 6:4-5

What do you desire; I mean what do you really, truthfully, desire? Do you desire God? Honestly? Then seek Him alone, forsaking all others.
"Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart." ~Psalms 37:4

Or are your true desires for the things of this world?
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world." ~1 John 2:16

This is the true test! Do you desire God or the things of the world?
The Apostle Paul said; "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?" ~2 Corinthians 13:5

"Has God done such a work in your heart that the God you once hated you now esteem and desire Him above all things?" ~ Paul Washer

"And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." ~John 17:3

God has appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness and His given only one way to escape the wrath if God against sin. "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures." He said to His disciples; "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Then He ascended and sat down at the right hand of God the Father in heaven and now makes intercession on behalf of all that come to God through faith in Him, this is the gospel. Jesus said, "The time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand repent and believe in the gospel."

I Surrender All to You

As I begin to write this I am overwhelmed with emotion, tears are welling up in my eyes; for I have drawn near to the Lord and have tasted His goodness. Nearly One year ago, on January 29th I wrote an article called (Sick of Church) and posted it on the 30th. (This article is an addendum to that article so if you want to read it just click on the title.) I didn't know at the time what the results of it would be, and it turned out to be the most significant thing I've ever written. Next to the Lord granting me Repentance and Faith in Jesus Christ what He showed me on that day and caused me to do has changed everything. It has been an incredible journey! In the last year I have found myself standing at street lights with a cross, preaching the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ in open-air, reading scripture aloud publicly, and pleading for lives at an abortuary; all as a result of what God did on the morning of January 29th.

The day after the Lord awoken me from my slumber into Biblical Evangelism I posted the article (Sick of Church); one year later to the day I will be arriving in New Orleans, Louisiana with 110 other evangelist and will be preaching the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ in Open-Air on the streets of New Orleans around the Superdome, the site of Super Bowl XLVII. With an estimated crowd to surround the Superdome over the course of the weekend of over 1.1 million, all of whom, without faith in Jesus Christ alone will perish in their sins. There will be people there from all over the world coming to worship their idol of wealth and prosperity. There is much work to be done! Why should we preach the gospel; because it is true and the ramifications of that knowledge are bigger than our feeble minds can comprehend? Allow me to tell you what I believe in regards to preaching the gospel; I believe the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ. The word of God says; “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17) and “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) and “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.” (John 10:3-4) and “All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.” (Isaiah 53:6). Me and the other brethren who will be on the streets of New Orleans are going as “Ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20) and will be preaching the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost sheep of the world; all the while knowing that all are like sheep having gone astray, His sheep hear His voice and will follow Him, that faith comes from hearing, and the gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes; so the gospel of Jesus Christ we will preached!

This past year has been an incredible Journey in the Lord, all caused by the Lord! Yes, I went out and did these things but he prepared them before hand so that I would walk in them (Ephesians 2:10) and I did them because He gave me repentance, He changed my mind. My thinking was changed by the Lord, therefore my words and actions followed suit, causing me to live out His command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel” (Mark 16:15). Don’t let me lead you to think this has been easy, this journey has not been easy; I have faced many barriers, heart breaks, setbacks, mistakes, and all the while battling against my own sin nature. It was as though nothing in the world or no one was in support of me doing this; each step of the way I was alone with the Spirit and Word of God beside me, once I had stepped forward in faith then the Lord surrounded me with other brethren being led by the Spirit and Word of God to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

The previous year 2011 I had been following and learning from a ministry called Living Waters. I had listened to a sermon by John MacArthur about how we are “Slaves of Jesus Christ” and then read the book he wrote called “Slave”. I could then see throughout scripture that the Apostles and early Christians considered themselves to be slaves of Christ, bought at the price of His blood. So I changed the name of my blog to “A Slave of Jesus Christ” which it remains to be to this day. One day I was playing around on Google typing in “A Slave of Jesus Christ” and one of the things that came up was a blog by a man who I knew worked for Living Waters ministry whose name is Tony Miano. The first post on His blog was of him standing on a corner with a cross and the sound bite for the video was the sermon by John MacArthur I had listened to. I also found on his blog a post written by Tony Miano about how he started carrying a cross. So I went out, got material, made a cross, and it sat in my garage never being used. After I had written “Sick of Church” there sat that cross in my garage, so I took it up in the first week of February 2012 to Broadway Ave and Shiloh Rd in Tyler, TX and stood with it for 1 hour. I have now been out with it for minimum of once a week in various places around Tyler, TX ever since. I wound up writing Tony Miano around April 1st because I wanted to change the wording on my cross to “Are You Ready” like was on his and thought I should ask for his permission. He wound up putting my testimony of how I had started carrying a cross on His blog. His blog is called (Cross Encounters) and the article was called (Crosswalk Beginnings: Mike Peek). He is a full-time Evangelist who could use your support. On Good Friday April the 6th I preached my first Open-Air on the campus of UT Tyler and from that day the door opened wide.

I had been praying for the Lord to give me a partner to go out with. Right after I had fallen into obedience and preached the gospel in open-air I bumped into Seth Capps handing out gospel tracts; Seth and I have gone out and preached together several times since and now with our wives and another couple we are going to an abortuary in Shreveport, LA once a month to plead for babies lives with the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ. He and I and four other men from East Texas will be going together to New Orleans for the Super Bowl Outreach. One year ago I was sitting in church like so many other Christians do, taking part in church socials, attending Sunday school, attending worship services, going to bible studies in homes and talking about sharing the gospel and never doing it. Then one Sunday morning the conviction of the Holy Spirit came upon me; I heard the call, I surrendered all to Him and went out into the mission field. One year later I have been out with my cross in Tyler, TX a minimum of once a week since, I have shared the gospel one on one with several people; I have read scripture aloud in parks and at road sides. I have preached the gospel all around my community, and in other communities, at festivals, and fairs. I have found myself in another state pleading for the lives of unborn children with the word of God and gospel of Jesus Christ. And I know that everything that has happened this past year is all of the Lord; for I have drawn near to the Lord and have tasted His goodness.
