Jesus the fulfillment of God's law

Jesus didn't come to abolish the law but came to fulfill the law. Jesus said: "Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. ~Matt. 5:17 NLT" What is the law?

You know the ten commandments:
1) Love and worship God don't put any other gods before Him.
2) Don't create false gods and bow down to them that includes the god of your head.
3) Don't take the Lord's name in vain.
4) Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
5) Honor your father and mother.
6) You shall not murder.
7) You shall not commit adultery.
8) You shall not steal.
9) You shall not bear false witness (lie).
10) You shall not covet.

If Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law, what then is the purpose of the law? There have been many who tried in vain to keep the law but failed in their attempt, for the bible tells us "everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. ~Rom. 3:23" So obviously we can't reach heaven by our good works, so then what is the purpose of the law? Paul answered that in Romans 3:19 he states "it's purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show the entire world is guilty before God." He goes on to say "For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. ~Rom. 3:20" So the purpose of God's law is to show me, you, and everyone else that we are sinners. Are you a good person? Compared to other people maybe, but when you are compared to the Holy law of God you're not. To be good in the sight of God you most be perfect in what you do, what you say, and what you think. Jesus said in Mt 5:28 "that if you even look at a women with lust you're guilty of adultery".

That is why Christ had to enter this world. Jesus was and is the only person to ever live without breaking God's laws. He is perfect in thought, word, and deed. He is Himself God! Phil. 2:6. The bible tells us "for God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ." ~1Cor. 5:21 So you may ask what must I do then to be saved. The bible says "Repent of your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ." ~Acts 2:38, 17:30-31, 20:21. That means stop sinning and know longer trust in your own goodness, but trust in the goodness of Christ to save you on the day of judgement. If you do this you will move from death to life and God will give you His Holy Spirit as a promise to show you, you're saved. I hope and pray that you will.
